Bruce Grobbelaar is a Zimbabwean former goalkeeper born in Durban and raised in Zimbabwe. After playing in Africa and for Vancouver Whitecaps, he joined Liverpool in 1981 and became the club’s most decorated goalkeeper of the 1980s. His unorthodox style and flamboyant personality helped the Reds win six First Division titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups and the 1984 European Cup. He later played for Southampton and other clubs before moving into coaching in South Africa. After being cleared of match-fixing allegations he became an ambassador for Liverpool and a popular after-dinner speaker.
